A fully localized customer facing payment and billing platform designed to accommodate the ever-expanding Squarespace product line. Universal Checkout is a key component to the Squarespace ecosystem and is essential to the success of the company.

Responsibilities
I was the lead designer on the Checkouts & Payments team for over two years, during that time I worked with a Senior Product Manager and twelve engineers to design and build the UC platform and iterate on it.
Results
Universal Checkout dramatically increased the ability and speed with which we could AB Test. It also unlocked new payment methods, international transactions and improved conversion.
Project Highlights
Starting Point
When I joined the company, there were five distinct checkout flows, each with their own UX and codebase. Our priority was to create a single checkout that would support each Squarespace product, while maintaining the same underlying structure and user journey.
One flow for all products
UC is a modal-based experience, making it easier to guide users into a checkout from wherever they were in the ecosystem.
Initial Purchase
The Website Checkout flow we initially designed was optimized for first-time customers and was scalable to each subsequent product.
Multi-Product Checkout
Allowing users the option to purchase a Member Areas subscription with their Website was our first foray into supporting a multi-product transaction. From this point we began testing different combinations of subscriptions, and dynamically offering different products based on user behavior.
Squarespace Select
One of the more visual elements of UC is the landing page for the Enterprise version of Squarespace.
